Blue Calamintha Bee

Ultra rare blue Florida bee thought to be extinct until rediscovered in 2020 on the Lake Wales Ridge. They don’t live in hives but build individual nests and were thought to gather pollen from only one flower., the calamintha. 

This female bee is rubbing her head against the pollen of a Penta in Winter Haven. Who knew?
